The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority is pursuing development of a new airport in eastern Tennessee, midway between existing airports at Knoxville and Rockwood. The proposal is to construct a 5,000′ runway on land to be donated by the Department of Energy. The airport would be located 20-miles west of Knoxville’s McGhee-Tyson Airport (KTYS), and 15-miles east of Rockwood Municipal Airport (KRKW).
The red line indicates the approximate runway, which would displace Blair Road. Click on this link to view the proposed 5,000′ runway at Oak Ridge, TN in a larger map.
