Case in point: the guy who was railroading the AIRR Act through the FAA Reauthorization hearing and markup sessions on February 10-11, 2016. You know, the guy who admits to being in a ‘relationship’ with a high-ranking Airlines for America lobbyist whose group happens to be the driving force behind the so-called ‘transformational reforms’ in a legislative package that combines a few long overdue reforms with the totally toxic idea of ‘privatizing’ ATC. Yeah, that guy some say looks life Peter Griffin!
That would be Bill Shuster…
…and he is just like his Papa: the tree is ‘Bud’, and the fruit/nut is ‘Bill’.
Bud Shuster is often confused with his son, Bill. While Bill is the current Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Bud was an earlier Chairman of the same committee, until he resigned in early 2001. His resignation followed a 3-year ethics investigation for which a 1,092-page investigative report was produced. At the core of the ethics violations was a pattern and practice of a cozy relationship with a female lobbyist … the exact same ‘conflict of interest’ being practiced today, in the relationship between Bill Shuster and Airlines for America VP Shelley Rubino.
